Play Sound
This location was an interior, a bowling center in Madison. There is no map to accompany this location, but I was staked out in the back of the building. These sounds are interesting because they are somewhat unusual and unrecognizable. The average person would not know the sound if they heard it.

Breese Terrace, Madison, WI

Play Sound
For this portion I chose the intesection of Breese and University, which is located downtown at Camp Randall Stadium which is quite busy. However, on the day of my trek, there was only a limited amount of activity, but still a good amount to pick up some ambient sounds.
University Avenue, Madison, WI

Play Sound
For an ambience clip, I decided to record voices in public. Two women on opposite sides of the street were yelling small talk to one another. From a bench on the sidewalk, I was able to pick up a short conversation. This location seemed ideal for this sort of thing, because there isn't too much traffic, but mostly pedestrians and random sounds. On this map each red "X" represents the locations of the people I recorded.
Observatory Drive, Madison, WI

Play Sound
This was taken near the University Library. Standing across the street, I was able to pick up some ambience. The environment itself is usually pretty busy and noisy during the week, but I decided to go on the weekend so I could get more ambience with less outside interference.
Memorial Union, Madison, WI

Play Sound
This selection was taken at the union of the Wisconsin campus in Madison. Standing on the shore of Lake Mendota, I placed my microphones at the water's edge to record the waves and water against the piers. The black star represents where I was at the time. Unfortunately, it was a really windy day and there is a bit of wind on the recording. Nonetheless, I think the wind still makes for an interesting sound when its corresponds with the sound of the waves. Listening to it almost makes me feel as though I'm out on the water.
